Phrag kovachii "Select", Prev Bloom

Dr. Bill's Orchids, LLC

Regular price $900.00

Pre-Order Listing

The "KING" of Phrags. This is the species that everyone wants and loves. Blooms can get to 9 inches across! Phrag kovachii has been known to be fussy in the past and sometimes still can be. However, I think that with newer generations of breeding, some vigor has been bred into the lines for more growers to be able to keep them alive and actually thrive! Read the culture guide plus the extra care tips!!!

Sample blooms: THIS IS NOT THE EXACT BLOOM FOR SALE- only species illustration* >>Select clone that has already bloomed and would be good for hybridizing potential. I do not have exact pictures of these blooms.

Species/Hybrid: species

Plant size: Large, has previously bloomed

In bud/bloom?: No

Pot size:

Fragrant?: No

Culture: Dr. Bill's Phrag Culture Guide. EXTRA TIPS: 1) KEEP THEM HYDRATED- Kovachii does not like to dry out, but also doesn't want to have dense soggy potting media- make sure it is airy. If they fully dry out, it can be hard to bring them back. SUPPLEMENT CALCIUM- this is a must since they grow in areas that are naturally high in calcium and can be prone to deficiencies if this is not supplemented. TEMPERATURE- they can tolerate temperatures higher than 75F when necessary, but they will not be happy. Try to keep temps below 75F. FERTILIZER- these are robust plants. When they have reached adult size, they will grow like gangbusters and need fertilizer to boot **BUT** don't like a ton of dissolved salts to burn the roots, so I recommend dilute concentrations of fertilizer with every watering and lots of plain water flushes. WATER QUALITY- as mentioned with the fertilizer bit, they do appreciate clean water. Can they survive on some tap waters? Yes, but look into your water supply and verify the dissolved solids, since it will perform better with lower amounts.
