Medium size at maturity. Blooms in fall-winter (usually Nov-Dec in the USA). There are 2 types of C. maxima (highland and lowland) and they differ in their nighttime temperature requirements. I do not currently know if these plants are the highland or lowland forms.

Highland form likes night temperatures 65-70F and day temps 85F. May have some natural purple pigmentation in the leaves

Lowland form likes night temperatures 55-60F and day temps 85F.

Sample bloom photo and other info: Cattleya maxima IOSPE, Chadwick's article on Cattleya maxima

Plant size: BS, may have previously bloomed

In bud/bloom?: No

Pot size:

Fragrant?: Yes, pleasant, some describe as similar to heliotrope to sweet pea scented

Culture: Intermediate growing, medium-bright light (leaves should be a light green color), average humidity (40% or more). Water regularly when in active growth, allowing roots to dry between waterings. Fertilize during active growth. Keep slightly underpotted- likes to be relatively tight in its pot.  AOS Cattleya basic culture sheet
